NAKEDADE HYDRATION SUPPLEMENT

NAKEDADE HYDRATION SUPPLEMENT

HYDRATION SUPPLEMENT MADE WITH CLEAN INGREDIENTS: NAKEDADE

I spend a lot of time sweating between the hot yoga, running and strength training that I do. One thing that I have found imperative for maintaining optimal hydration levels so that I feel my best is adding electrolyte powder to my water bottle at least once a day. In this post, I’m reviewing one of my current favorite hydration supplements, Nakedade from Naked Nutrition.

I’m currently teaching five hot yoga classes every week and I typically practice a few times a week on top of that. The room is typically heated to anywhere between 90-110 degrees (depending on where I’m teaching) and then you add in humidity which tends to vary depending on the number of people in the room and the weather outside. I always leave the studio crazy sweaty – especially if I’m teaching a packed-out class or doing the practice/taking class. It is never an option to not shower after class, haha. Between teaching hot yoga and my own workouts, I often average 3+ showers a day (most are quick rinses).

Running always makes me very sweaty but summer running in the south is especially brutal. We are currently in the time of summer where there is no escaping the heat or humidity. If you run early to “beat the heat,” it’s insanely humid (like 90% or more) and if you run later in the day after some of the humidity has burned off, the temps are in the 90s. In my 20+ years of running I have come to accept that there is no beating the heat and I just know I’m going to finish my run able to wring sweat out of my clothes and probably with a few drowned gnats stuck to me. Fun times! (A crazy part of me actually loves it – the sweat, not the bugs.)

NAKEDADE REVIEW: A HYDRATION SUPPLEMENT MADE WITH CLEAN INGREDIENTS

All that said, let’s talk hydration because it’s something that is always top of mind for me! I drink a ton of water every day – probably close to 100 ounces or more. One thing I have learned through years of very sweaty yoga classes, runs and workouts is that sometimes water isn’t enough for me. I find that I need to add some sort of hydration supplement to my water at least once a day to replenish the electrolytes that I lose through sweating. ESPECIALLY during the summer. I can tell a noticeable difference between how I feel when I supplement with electrolytes versus water only. I recover so much better, feel less thirsty and more energetic/good in my body when I add the electrolytes.

One of my current favorite hydration supplements for sustained energy and optimal hydration is Nakedade from Naked Nutrition. It’s an electrolyte powder that contains pink Himalayan sea salt, potassium chloride and potassium citrate. These help you replenish key electrolytes so that you stay hydrated through your workout and the rest of the day. Just a reminder that electrolytes are key minerals that ensure proper nerve and muscle function, maintain blood pressure, rebuild tissues in the body, among many other roles. Important stuff!

NAKEDADE STATS

• 285 mg potassium

• 330 mg sodium

• 12 g sugar

• 13g carbs

• 60 calories

• Made in the USA, soy-free, vegan, GMO-free, gluten-free

• No artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors

NAKEDADE CONTAINS PALATINOSE FOR SUSTAINED ENERGY

One unique thing about Nakedade is that it contains Palatinose™ (isomaltulose). It’s a low-glycemic smart carb derived from sugar beets. During the manufacturing process, the sucrose is isolated, leaving behind the fructose and glucose. This allows it to be absorbed slowly so you get a steady supply of clean energy throughout your workout

Palatinose™ improves fat oxidation and provides a steady supply of energy to increase exercise endurance. Each serving of Nakedade also provides 285mg of potassium, an essential mineral for muscle function.

HOW TO USE NAKEDADE

• Mix: I like to mix one stick into my water bottle. You can use as little as 8 ounces of water for a more concentrated formula/stronger taste. I like to mix it into about 20 ounces of water.

• When: I use it during hot yoga classes, during gym workouts and before or after a run. I typically only do one packet per day and then make sure to stay on top of my regular water intake

• Consider pairing with: you might also want to check out Naked Nutrition’s Naked BCAAs or Naked Creatine to make a sports drink that will support sustained energy, improved performance and a reduction of muscle soreness.

Naked Nutrition offers over 50 products – most containing three ingredients or less. They source the best ingredients possible and leave out the junk. You won’t find artificial sweeteners, additives or artificial colors in their products. Naked Nutrition is committed to being transparent about what they sell so that you know exactly what is going into your body.
